Looks like people still need to be cautious about their raw-food consumption, even though the most recent encounter with hepatitis A has passed. There is now salmonella, which has closed a farm in Kahuku. The bacteria was found in water lines feeding the rinse tanks, the Health Department announced, and that tainted sea asparagus and seaweed.
Such items do turn up as side dishes here and there, including fancy restaurants. Which shows: Food safety affects everyone. Serve up more vigilance, please.
