Paramedics took a 17-year-old boy to a hospital in critical condition after he nearly drowned in waters off Waikiki Thursday.
At approximately 11:15 p.m., paramedics responded to a report of a swimmer found unresponsive in the ocean off of Duke’s Waikiki at 2335 Kalakaua Ave., according to an Emergency Medical Services report.
Paramedics treated the boy and took him to the hospital.
Unattended stove burns home in Makaha
Eight people escaped a fire that broke out at a two-story home in Makaha Friday.
Shortly before 11 a.m., 32 firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire at 85-038 Farrington Highway. The fire was confined to the kitchen and was brought under control by 11:08 a.m. The blaze was fully extinguished by 11:19 a.m.
A resident said the cause of the fire was food cooking and left unattended, Honolulu Fire Capt. David Jenkins said.
Eight people were inside the home at the time of the fire and escaped without injury. The American Red Cross was helping residents. Damage to the home and its contents was estimated at $100,000, Jenkins said.
Woman arrested after fight ends in stabbing
Police arrested a 40-year-old woman in Maili after she allegedly stabbed another woman.
The stabbing occurred at about 8:40 p.m. Thursday at a residence on Heleuma Street. Police said the suspect and the victim, 47, were arguing when the younger woman stabbed the victim multiple times in the upper torso.
Paramedics responded and took the 47-year-old woman to the hospital in serious condition.
Police seek male suspect in robbery
Police are looking for an armed man who robbed a woman at a Honolulu business.
Police said the man entered the business at 4:06 a.m. Thursday and demanded money from a 61-year-old female employee.
Police did not say what kind of weapon was used or what was taken and did not release the location of the business or a description of the suspect.
