Fire crews put out parking structure fire in Waikiki

Firefighters extinguished a Waikiki residential high-rise fire Monday afternoon that was discovered in the parking garage.

The first unit on scene at 4:49 p.m. found smoke and flames coming from the 4th floor parking garage of at 444 Nahua St.

The blaze involved about three dozen mattresses and other furnishings that were stored in the parking garage, fire Capt. David Jenkins said.

Police shut down Nahua Street at about 5 p.m. between Kuhio Avenue and Ala Wai Boulevard.

The fire was reported at 4:44 p.m. It was brought under control at 5:05 p.m. and extinguished at 5:09 p.m.

No one was injured, and there was no damage to the structure.
