Caesars to phase out free parking at 8 Las Vegas resorts

LAS VEGAS >> Eight of Caesars Entertainment Corp.’s nine Las Vegas hotel-casinos will start phasing out free parking starting next month.
Caesars Entertainment Corp. announced Tuesday it will start charging for valet services at the Linq and Harrah’s next month and charge for self-parking later when new parking equipment is installed.
Caesars, The Cromwell, Paris, Planet Hollywood, Bally’s and the Flamingo will start charging for parking starting in 2017.
The company says guests have reported that parking has become scarce. It hopes paid parking will help cut down on the problem.
Parking will remain free at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino where the parking area is larger and the company says there aren’t similar problems.
The move follows a similar paid parking policy rolled out by MGM Resorts International earlier this year.

Non-Caesars customer abusing parking privileges probably is the cause for parking charges?
And they park at Caesars and go where?
Caesars of course. Just bureaucratic spin so they can take more from customers. Following the failing lead of Spirit, Ryan Air, etc.
And of course if you are staying on property you will also be charged. Latest version of “Pay to Play.”
Wow, that’s terrible. That’s one reason I encouraged people to rent a car in Vegas; the free parking. Though I advised using the valet service because the parking lots in the back are a hike to the casinos. Valet parking was free too, you just had to tip the valet.
“paid parking will help cut down on the problem.” Yeah, if guests don’t go, plenty parking. No problem. Less gambling, shopping, and dining revenue. Win some…parking revenue. Lose some…casino/hotel revenue. Take your pick.
Do these casinos really need more profit, so they nickel and dime everybody with every possible gimmick.
Last time we were in Vegas, talk was they were going to build a new stadium for the Oakland Raiders football team. Supposedly, casinos/hotels will “contribute” $$$, so, room rates will go up. Must be why parking will be charged, too. Don’t know if the stadium plan went through or not.
The Oakland lady mayor is trying hard to keep the Raiders in Oakland…..I think it is a lost cause.

I catch the bus during the day, cab at night. No parking issues. Cost me about $8 for 3 days on the bus, but cabs can cost money.
Looks like they can’t wait to take your money until you get to the casino but hit you up earlier in the parking lot. Free parking was one of the reasons I went to the bigger name strip hotels and casinos.

Proof positive that most only read the headlines and post a comment. This direction they’re taking in not to create another revenue stream. They’re trying to find a solution for the lack of parking for their hotel quests.
That sounds like an excuse. What, did the size of the hotel change over the years? Reserve spaces for hotel guests (and not all of them will have a car). Have the rest first come, first served. No need to charge.
Vegas not as friendly anymore; pay for parking, pay exorbitant daily resort fees, no comp’d drinks at bar-top poker machines, show closures, what next?? Better to take a cruise somewhere to relax; no parking issue, no resort fees, free food and drinks, got shows, got gambling, got traveling. Just saying . . . .
Or visit local Indian Casinos where the parking is always free, great service. They are eating Las Vegas’s lunch. People do not have to fly or drive long distance to a casino. Plus any of them have good entertainment, buffets, restaurants.

Guess this will cut into their businesses. Who wants to gamble and lose then pay for parking. Talk about putting salt into a wound.
Why is this news? Parking fees in another town? Waste of the readers time and money.
