Snow blanketed the upper slopes of Hawaii island, which was under a winter storm warning Saturday.
An upper-level disturbance was bringing the moderate to heavy snow as it moved over the eastern part of the state, the National Weather Service said.
Cameras on Mauna Kea showed snow covering the ground and poor visibility.
Heavy, blowing and drifting snow and gusts of up to 45 mph buffeted the summits, the weather service said. The warning was set to expire at 6 a.m. today.

Woman hurt in tumble from trail
A 66-year-old California woman was injured Friday when she fell off a trail near Uluwehi Falls, also known as Secret Falls, in Wailua.
Kauai County said by email that police dispatch was notified of the incident about 2 p.m.
Firefighters from the Kapaa and Kaiakea fire stations hiked in and found the woman being tended to by a tour guide and a family member.
Rescuers had been prepared to hike the woman out of the area using a litter, but instead called in the department’s helicopter because of the hazardous condition of the trail.
The woman was flown to Wailua Homesteads Park, then taken by ambulance to Wilcox Hospital. The hiker injured her hip.

Jury still weighing murder case
The jury will resume deliberations this week in the trial of a Maui man accused of murdering his pregnant ex-girlfriend and dismembering her body.
Deliberations in the case of Steven Capobianco began Dec. 1 following closing arguments from the state and defense, as well as a rebuttal argument from the prosecution.
Capobianco is standing trial for the murder of Carly “Charli” Scott. He is also accused of setting her vehicle on fire in February 2014.
He has pleaded not guilty.
The trial began more than six months ago with the state introducing 71 witnesses and entering hundreds of items into evidence, including part of a jawbone belonging to the victim.
Scott was 27 and five months pregnant by the defendant when she disappeared.
The defendant is the last person known to have seen her alive. Capobianco told police Scott picked him up on Feb. 9, 2014, and dropped him off at his truck, which he said had gotten stuck in Keanae a day earlier.
Prosecution witnesses said the jawbone showed knife marks, while the defense contends the body was torn apart by wild pigs.
