Nevada outlasts Rainbow Wahine in triple OT

Hawaii hit tying 3-pointers in the final seconds of overtime and double overtime before Nevada finally managed to hold off the Rainbow Wahine and pulled out a 67-59 win in triple overtime in a nonconference women’s basketball game today in Reno, Nev.

UH guard Sarah Toeaina came up with a steal and pulled up for a 3-pointer to tie the score at 49-49 at the end of the first overtime. Olivia Crawford extended the game again with another 3 with 2.3 seconds left in the second overtime. But UH (3-7) went without a field goal in the third five-minute overtime period and Nevada (6-5) ended the game with an 8-0 run at the Lawlor Events Center.

Crawford led UH with 12 points and Toeaina finished with eight.

Stephanie Schmid scored 14 points for Nevada and Riana Everidge had 13. Forward AJ Cephas posted 10 points, including a key putback with 43.5 seconds left that gave the Wolf Pack a 63-59 lead.

The Rainbow Wahine face Boise State (8-1) on Tuesday to conclude their road trip.
