Timmy Chang, who set several NCAA passing records at the University of Hawaii, could be coaching against the Rainbow Warriors in 2017.
Chang is expected to be named an assistant coach in charge of inside receivers with Nevada, according to several reports.
FootballScoop.com was the first to post the report Tuesday.
The Star-Advertiser has been told an official announcement could come today.
Chang spent the 2016 season as offensive coordinator at Emory & Henry University, a Division III team in Virginia. The Wasps averaged 33 points and 463 yards a game, finishing 6-4 and earning a share of second place in the eight-team Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
Chang coached at Jackson State for two seasons before joining Emory & Henry, where he replaced former UH teammate Craig Stutzmann, who moved to Manoa for 2016. Chang also was an offensive assistant at Southern Methodist.
Chang, who played for UH in 2000 and 2002-04, was married Sunday on the Emory & Henry campus, a spokesman said.
Nevada announced Jay Norvell as its head coach Dec. 9 and named Matt Mumme its offensive coordinator.
