Fire destroys abandoned home in Pahoa

Firefighters extinguished a fire that fully engulfed a home in Pahoa.

At approximately 1:10 p.m. Thursday, firefighters responded to the fire at a 1,300-square-foot abandoned home located on Nanawale Boulevard.

Firefighters brought the fire under control at 1:35 p.m. and extinguished it at 2 p.m., according to a news release by the Hawaii County Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage to the structure is estimated at $130,000.
