President Barack Obama pauses for media to take their places as he meets with United Nations Secretary-General-designate, Antonio Guterres, in the Oval Office of the White House, in Washington.

UNITED NATIONS >> Antonio Guterres is starting his first day as the new secretary-general of the United Nations with an appeal to all people in the world to make a New Year’s resolution: “Let us resolve to put peace first.”

The former Portuguese prime minister and U.N. refugee chief made the plea just after taking over the reins of the United Nations from Ban Ki-moon whose second five-year term ended at midnight on Dec. 31.

Guterres said the only way to help “the millions of people caught up in conflict, suffering massively in wars with no end in sight” is for citizens, governments and leaders to “strive to overcome our differences.”

“All that we strive for as a human family — dignity and hope, progress and prosperity — depends on peace,” he said.

Time for the USA to exit the UN. There are plenty of 3rd world countries to host the organization. After they relocate one of Trumps real estate firms can re-develop the former UN HQ and turn it into income producing property.

Agreed, let’s exit the un. On a side note let’s put peace first and let’s see the “religion of peace” set the example. Support girls education, allow them to walk/drive/live freely without the covering of ones head, and quit killing people cuz we are not going to follow your guy. Get over it.

The so-called religion peace hasn’t lifted a finger to reign in their more radical members. No condemnation nor ostracizing. The massacre of innocents goes on as clueless western nations stand by paralyzed by political correctness and western guilt. Barry, Waldo and John F’ing Kerry are seemingly on the side of supporters and purveyors of terror as evidenced by Barry’s refusal to identify the enemy by name, the Iran deal and the recent backstabbing of Israel. Fortunately the adults will soon be back in charge as incompetent and inept progressives lose their power come Jan 20th.

UN is a waste of money. Over 3 billion could be used for more constructive purposes. Homelessness for one and on and on….

Great time for BO to dust off his NOBEL PRIZE trophy (cough) & reassert his…ah….magic (gag)?
