Marriott International Inc., which completed its acquisition of Starwood Hotels &Resorts Worldwide last fall, announced new leadership changes Wednesday for its Hawaii and French Polynesia properties.
Harris Chan, who previously served as Starwood Hotels &Resorts’ vice president of operations for Hawaii and French Polynesia, will assume the top leadership role of area vice president. The changes did not result in any related layoffs in Hawaii.
Chris Tatum will serve as Marriott Waikiki Resort Waikiki Beach general manager and area general manger with oversight for the Wailea Beach Resort — Marriott Maui, Kauai Marriott Resort &Beach Club and Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort &Spa, as well as the Residence Inn Maui-Wailea and the Courtyard Maui Kahului Airport.
Kelly Sanders is now area general manager of Starwood’s former Hawaii assets and will continue to serve as Sheraton Waikiki general manager. He will precede over Hawaii Kyo-ya-owned resorts on Oahu and Maui, including Sheraton Waikiki; Sheraton Princess Kaiulani; Moana Surfrider, a Westin Resort &Spa; the Royal Hawaiian, a Luxury Collection Resort; and Sheraton Maui Resort &Spa.
Longtime Starwood veteran David Richard will lead sales and marketing efforts as area director of sales for the merged resort portfolio. Other area directors include James Guindon, who will oversee finance; Kristen Palagano, who will preside over human resources; Lauren Geller, who will lead operations and Eric Au, who will have engineering oversight.
Marriott is the world’s largest hotel company with more than 5,700 properties in over 110 countries. In Hawaii, 30 properties now fall under Marriott’s oversight.
