Biden to President-elect Trump: ‘Grow up’

ASSOCIATED PRESS

Vice President Joe Biden left the the Old Senate Chamber following a mock swearing in ceremony on Capitol Hill in Washington, Tuesday, as the 115th Congress begins.

WASHINGTON >> Vice President Joe Biden told President-elect Donald Trump Thursday to “grow up.”

Biden dismissed a Trump complaint on Twitter about how the Obama administration has handled the transition. The vice president told “PBS NewsHour” in an interview: “Grow up, Donald. Grow up. It’s time to be an adult.”

Biden said of Trump: “You’re president. You’ve got to do something. Show us what you have.”

The vice president also said that Trump as president will have to propose legislation that Congress and the public can then assess. He said that it’ll be “much clearer what he’s for and against” once he’s in the position of governing.

Biden also said it’s “dangerous” for Trump to have publicly criticized the U.S. intelligence community over its conclusion that Russia interfered in the November election. Biden said it’s “absolutely mindless” for a president not to have confidence in or listen to intelligence agencies.

The vice president said it would be legitimate to question intelligence and ask for more detail or disagree. But he said that’s different than Trump claiming he knows more than the intelligence agencies.

Biden said that’s like saying, “I know more about physics than my professor.” He says that’s worrisome, but he assumes Trump’s behavior will change. He said that Trump is surrounding himself with “very smart people” like retired Marine Corps Gen. James Mattis, the billionaire businessman’s pick for defense secretary.

Everyone keeps saying that Trump is going to change. He’s not going to change. He may take on the belief of the last person he talks to, but that’s just a factor of his early-stage Alzheimer’s.

He most probably will succumb to weird, out-there, and mostly false conspiracy theories and lies.

    • americantaxpayer says:

      Are you talking about Hillary?

      • Boots says:

He is obviously talking about the Donald. Do you also have early-stage Alzheimer’s?

        • Rite80 says:

Is it Alzheimers? He’s more likely a self serving narcissis.

        • MoiLee says:

Maybe it’s you Boots who’s suffering from Early Stage Alzheimer’s . C’mon Bro, I know you’re Sharper than that! Remember Uncle Joe Biden commenting to DJT “I would Only Take Trump Behind The Gym,If We were In High School”. Remember? Huh?
I don’t think Uncle Joe Biden could Take a “You know what” behind the Gym,let alone take DJT there think Trump . Yes you could say DJT had a really Good Teacher(Joe Biden) about……..”Growing Up”.

        • HanabataDays says:

I don’t think there’d be a scintilla of difference between Biden taking Drumpf behind the gym and taking a “You know what” behind the gym.

        • DannoBoy says:

Biden is free to speak his mind and to say what more than half the country thinks: little Donnie should grow up, stop his erratic twitter rants, and start to act like POTUS.

Sadly, this won’t do much good.

Donald the Dumpster is already a stinky old man who should know better by now. His army of frightened little Trumpettes has been raised on amgry red meat, and they drool over their tweety tyrant’s little tantrums.

As we express our dismay about the actions of Trump and the Republicans, perhaps Joe and the rest of reality-based America should avoid giving any more helpful advice because “the wise don’t need it and the fools won’t heed it.”

        • lespark says:

Boots, what did I tell you. You lost, we won.

      • MillionMonkeys says:

There is no Hillary in the picture. The (rigged) election is over. Trump is the POTUS-elect.

Time to focus on Trump, and what he has (not) done.

Trump’s critics point out that he has forgotten all of his promises once they leave his mouth. There is no Hillary. How do Trump fans explain his apparent disregard for whatever he says?

Joe Biden is correct, Trump needs to stop acting like a reality show character. He needs to act like a grownup and learn how to talk at the adults’ table.

We’ve waited all this time. Now that the election is over, shouldn’t he release his tax returns? Without mentioning his election opponent, does everyone agree that he should release his tax returns?

        • Carang_da_buggahz says:

He’ll do it once The Incompetent One releases his college transcripts. But we all know obama won’t do that. If he did, he’d finally be exposed as a generous recipient of Minority preferential treatment, just like he’s gotten for the last 8 years from the Liberal Media. No surprise there.

    • Keonigohan says:

      @ JustBobF
All hope is not lost for Crooked Nasty Corrupt hiLIARy…she’s mumming a run for NY Mayor! wooohooo Hope she can walk straight to the rigged debates.

      • Tanuki says:

Isn’t the election over? Why are you bringing up irrelevant things? T is the news now so stick with the subject. No excuses.

        • keaukaha says:

There I nothing irrelevant about the PE being able to govern.

        • cajaybird says:

Just like when she ran for Senator, she must run in a heavily Democratic city/ state, such as NY in order to when. A ham sandwich would win in NY, as long as it was labeled Democrat.
Actually, Bo Dietl is running for mayor of NY. I believe he could beat her in the primary..

        • MillionMonkeys says:

Trump’s tax returns are more relevant than whatever false accusations he threw at his opponent. Stop talking about HRC, start demanding that Trump say things that make sense.

His supporters SHOULD insist that he keep all the promises he made. WHAT IS WRONG WITH HIS SUPPORTERS?

People who didn’t vote for him are perhaps relieved that he has kept NONE of his promises. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE??? 😀

        • lespark says:

The elections is over. All you commies need to do is move on and let Trump do his job.

    • allie says:

agree…He is so radically flawed as an egomaniacal narcissist that I tremble for America.

      • noheawilli says:

Tremble? Would you have had an emotional breakdown if hillary won? We survived Obama, I think we’ll be ok.

      • MoiLee says:

Break out your shell Allie, your nonsensical comments makes NO Sense. “Radically Flawed” you best look at the Obama administration ,if you’re Looking for “Radical”.

You bought “Hook Line & Sinker” into his False narrative of “Hope & Change” and at the same time using the Race Card of Being the first Half Black/Half White, Multi Ethnic President. Sheeeeeeeeese louise. Break-Out of your shell!

        • Boots says:

We shall see how the Donald does. Will he be as much a disaster as Obama where the stock market rose from under 7,000 to close to 20,000 or will he be a success like the previous republican president who converted a surplus to a trillion dollar deficit and saw the stock market fall 30% over his 8 years? That is the question that will soon be answered.

As for calling Obama radical that is just pure republican propaganda rubbish. You really should stop listening to such trash. Please don’t ever forget that Obama care was a republican invention. As for using the race card, that is you republicans who have done that.

        • 64hoo says:

boots you keep repeating yourself about the stock market win trump won that’s when stock market went up had nothing to do with nerobama look at the stock market before the election results and look how it went up after trump won. so stop crying and lying.

        • Boots says:

Keep telling yourself that 64hoo. It is nothing more than a coincidence that the economy rises under democratic administrations while tending to fall under republican administrations? Market would have risen if Clinton had gotten in as uncertainty went down whoever had won. My main concern is where will it be in 4 years after republicans have practiced their Voodoo magic? Do you remember the prior republican president or were you too young? Just asking.

        • koleanui says:

I’m really tired of Boots ignorant cool-aid dogma. So here are the actual facts(per professional economists):
          1) The Stock market is not the economy. You bought that drivel from Odumbo and the lap dog Fed Chair.
2)The Stock Market went up because the corrupted Fed kept interest rates at O% and printed B’s$ in monopoly money. This allowed companies to borrow money for nothing and buy their own stock. And….what does that mean,? Stks go up WITHOUT growth, hiring, R&D or actually making money.
3)The U.S. Economy has grown at only 1-1.5 %/yr= Terrible for us.
4)Unemployment using the Govt U1 # is 4-5% Huh? The real number is also published, this is the U4. What does this mean?
U1 ignores everyone unemployed not looking for work and counts even temp- part-time hires. is this real employment?
The U4 counts everyone including all unemployed. This number is actually 10%+ and in some areas of the country >15%.
5)Govt inflation numbers are a lie. They do NOT include cost of food and energy(to the consumer). Anyone who actually goes shopping knows what energy and food prices have done in the last 8 years. for example Bread, milk, meat?(Does someone give you all your food Boots? LOL
          6) Multi-national US companies making money and keeping money overseas and helping other non-U.S. countries = no grow for the U.S.
There is 1T$+ sitting offshore because of Odumbo.

        • hawaiikone says:

koleanui, bootie has often been refuted with facts, yet they never seem to slow down his continuous flow of partisan drivel. Don’t be disappointed if the stream remains uninterrupted.

        • Boots says:

koleanui, I can see why you are so tired of me. The stock market is not the economy but you know what? It is a good measure of the economy. You will not often find a strong economy with a falling stock market. Frankly I don’t care why the market went up, the fact is it did. (A lot better than under the previous republican president.)

As for your other stats, we shall see how they do under the Donald. They sure weren’t all that great under the previous president. It is obvious that you miss G W Bush. Well we will probably be returning to how it was under his final months of his presidency. Enjoy.

      • cajaybird says:

allie, everything is relative. Out of curiosity, do you believe President Obama is a narcissist?

        • Boots says:

say how does it feel to actually be allied with Putin? I guess that makes you a pinko commie?

    • nalogirl says:

Why should Trump change? He won by being who he is, not PC. It is typical that after politicians win they do a complete 180 on what they campaigned on. I’m sure Trump is shaking in his boots because Vixen said “grow up”, just like Putin listened to Obama when he said to “cut it out”. What a joke.

      • Boots says:

Well now he has to govern. This means he has to reach agreement even with those even within his own party. You republicans love to disparage Obama but the fact remains that under his presidency the stock market is now around 20,000 instead of being under 7000. The Donald’s priority should be to keep the growth continuing with unemployment under 5% and the deficit under 500 billion.

I don’t think he will be able to do this with his talk of tax cuts for the rich and stupid government spending increases. (the wall) Forget about Mexico paying for it. So you republicans will have some explaining to do if the deficit rises to over a trillion, unemployment rises to 10% and the economy slides into another black hole.

But we shall see. I do appreciate him not viewing Russia as an evil empire. But being their patsy due to being owned by Russia is probably not good either.

        • cajaybird says:

Boots, you attribute the latest rise in the stock market to Obama? Are you hitting the sauce at 8:00 in the am?

        • Benthihi says:

I attribute the recent stock market rise not to T, but to the Republicans who were sitting out the market, waiting for a change, and scared that the Democrats would drive the country into a recession prior to T’s election. They appear to be off the sidelines, and are actively investing now (hope). However, there’s no significant change in the economy yet, other than Sears & JCP continuing their decline. Hope and fear…hope is winning now!

      • NanakuliBoss says:

All of these trumpies sucking on his Goo Aid. Go ahead keoni, nalo, cajay, yotare keep sucking him. He likes it. He produces more reality testosterone.

    • GONEGOLFIN says:

JustBobF, you just read an article regarding how Trump should not act as if he knows more than the specialists and professors, and what do you do? You go out on a limb and try and say you know what Trump will or will not be like.
Is that the Pot calling the Kettle Black or what?!!!

  2. Keonigohan says:

Keoni to Joe…GO AWAY! Oh & one last thing before you go…you missed a chance to be potus but you succumbed to the female felon BULLY. Dem MALES have NO cajones!

Yes Danno “Book-um”, MAGA! No need to question his ability, be confident!
Glad you finally seen light and equally “Glad” you’re on Board! Did you see the stock market this morning? Gasp! With only a 1/2 point away from an “All Time High” of 20K? Consumer Confidence has grown exponentially! And PE.DJT hasn’t even been sworn into office!
Here, here, Let Me Play the “Hail To The Chief” Song. Taataataa you get the message Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Go Donald!

        • DannoBoy says:

I share your hope for America, but not your rabid enthusiasm about Tweety Trump and the Congressional Trumpettes.

Why are you so giddy about the prospect of tax cuts for the rich, harm to the environment, cuts to the safety net, more power for corporations and balooning deficits?

        • Boots says:

Yes the stock market has enjoyed a nice increase since the election but will it continue? Probably will for at least a few months but what will happen when the deficit increases due to wasteful government spending (the wall) and tax cuts for the rich? Do you remember what happened under the last republican hero? 🙂

I will consider the Donald a success if the market is at 25000 at the end of his first term with the deficit still under 500 billion and unemployment under 5%. But, as is more likely the dow will be down around 15,000, unemployment around 10% and the deficit over a trillion, well what can I say? What will you say Moi?

        • Keonigohan says:

          @ MoiLee

          #MAGA

        • MoiLee says:

Yes! I do in fact remember the last Republican Hero, maybe not a “Hero” ,but most importantly do you Remember Democrat Dodds and Franks co-authors of the Housing Bubble? Give it up Boots. You along with your Liberal Buddies here are Sinking….again. By the way? Why are American issues so important to you? Aren’t you a citizen of Australia? or?let me see…. was it New Zealand. “Or” was that too ……”All Talk & No Action”.

        • DannoBoy says:

In the Trumpette fantasy land where MoiLee lives, the housing bubble that burst in 2008 was caused by the Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.

The only problem with this claim is that in the real world Dodd-Frank was passed in 2009 and didn’t start taking effect until 2010.

Passed as a response to the Great Recession, Dodd-Frank brought the most significant changes to financial regulation in the United States since the financial reforms that followed the Great Depression. It increased safeguards in the nation’s financial services industry. Since the, with the assistance of Wall Street lobbyists, Congressional Republicans have been doing everything they can to weaken Dodd-Frank.

But don’t worry all you little SA Trumpettes, uncle Tweety Twump will save you from all dos mean ‘ol factie wackties.

          #MAGA?

        • 64hoo says:

boots the deficit is at 20 trillion not 500 billion, crying is clouding your thinking.

        • DannoBoy says:

Angry little Trumpettes, like 64hoo, don’t even know the difference between the annual budget deficit and the national debt. Does their hero, Tweety Trump, know any better?

          #MAGA? (Make America Gooberish Again?)

        • Boots says:

Moilee, just curious but do you know who controlled congress when Clinton signed those bills at the end of Bill’s term? Do you realize that republicans had to pass those laws?

Don’t be surprised if the Donald is gone within 2 years. I don’t think even the Donald would withstand a counterattack from the CIA/military.

        • Boots says:

And MoiLee, what will you say if the the dow at the end of Donald’s term is down around 15,000, unemployment around 10% and the deficit over a trillion? Will you still be enthusiastic for MAGA? Just curious.

  3. el_burro_sabio says:

Someone needed to say it since most Republicans seem afraid to speak out. It can only help Trump to act more maturely, it will earn him more respect and more people will take him seriously.

    • DannoBoy says:

Sadly, Trump is an old man who lacks the insight necessary for emotional maturity.

  10. klastri says:

It’s going to be impossible for Mr. Trump to grow up. He’s a spoiled 13 year-old child in a 70 year-old body.

Mr. Trump is a psychotic. That’s obvious to anyone with a functioning brain. That, of course, eliminates folks who voted for him.

    • sarge22 says:

He said that Trump is surrounding himself with “very smart people” like retired Marine Corps Gen. James Mattis, the billionaire businessman’s pick for defense secretary.

      • klastri says:

Except that he continues to use Twitter as if he’s eight years old. There’s obviously something wrong with him. Very obviously. His inability to hear any challenge to his greatness is being used against him, and that will continue until he resigns or is impeached. You can’t recognize the fact that he’s sick?

The fact that he’s hiring some smart people (except of course for Senator Sessions, Rick Perry and a few others who could never be termed “smart”) doesn’t mean anything. You don’t seem to understand that the President makes the final decisions. It’s hard to counsel someone who is profoundly mentally ill.

        • MoiLee says:

          Hey, Klastri
Glad to see you enjoying the Sun Light once again.Welcome!

Obviously something is wrong with you? Maybe? Suffering from acute Liberlism or is it Defeat? As usual you have been WRONG on All the issues surrounding this Campaign! Remember “Hillary Will Win In A Landslide” Wrong again

And BTW what is wrong with using Social media via Twitter? There is no change of the MSM distorting his message! Right! We all seen what The “Fake News” “Fake Polls” the MSM has treated PE Trump. For him to Shine Them On or in this case Shine Them Off……I would expect nothing less!

        • Boots says:

I don’t think the Donald is mentally ill. I think he is a cold blooded businessman who has only one objective. Make tons of money. It appears that he will be making tons of it with his various conflicts of interest. It will be interesting to see how long republicans and the American people tolerate it.

        • Keonigohan says:

          @ MoiLee
          Agree! Truth Hurts doesn’t it!?

        • 64hoo says:

klassless the reason why he is twittering because he wants the American people to know what he is saying if he talked to the liberal mental disorder press first they would twist his words around and tell half truth and lies, good move by trump, let the American people know on twitter first and the lying press last.

It is time for Trump to stop talking (tweeting) and doing something. He’s apparently very bright and talks a very battle, but it’s now time to deliver. He reminds me of those old Civic Auditorium wrestling shows when the wrestlers howled and barked and talked big, to hype the matches to get people to attend. Just a sales pitch which promoters used.

    • dragoninwater says:

Emmm, what are you even talking about, he can’t do anything until he takes office on the 20th.

    • Koa12 says:

You mean, like already negotiating thousands of jobs returning back to the US (eg, Carrier, Ford, Sprint)? Or negotiating out of control spending on the F35 jet (Lockheed) and Air Force One (Boeing)? He’s already created more jobs and saved more taxpayer money as President Elect than Obama did in 8 years as President. Too bad we can’t get his help here in the aina in negotiating out of control spending on rail!

    • nalogirl says:

You and the other anti-trump posters act like he tweets a thousand times a day! I think using twitter to get out news to the public is transparent and it works.

  19. Mythman says:

Oh, as if Biden listened to the CIA when they pinpointed the punk who started ISIS for a five hundred pound bomb blast – instead Powell and Scooter and company fired the five hundred thousand troopers of the Iraq army and fed into that thug’s crazed car bomb madness, leading to the sectarian civil war we are seeing today. Pres O has been utterly effective for eight years. count them, eight. His policy was to feed light weapons into the civil war to keep it self destructive so as to move in at the end and throw more cash around……

  20. kennie1933 says:

I don’t really have a dog in the Presidential fight because I did not care for either candidate, but now that Trump has won, he really does have to make sure he chooses his battles and words carefully. OK, so he is not PC, that’s fine, but you STILL need to be careful about what you say and how you say it, being the leader of the most powerful nation on Earth. Whether we like it or not, the US is often times a role model for democracy, so what we do and what we say affects how other countries deal with their own policies and people. The President, no matter who s/he is, is the face of the US, and how s/he acts can affect the entire world.

    • dragoninwater says:

      “…most powerful nation on Earth”

Emmm, that power left our country long ago when our borders were left open and allowed over 40+ million illegals from a quasi-communist country to enter illegally and the administration can’t even deport them because of inept bureaucracy and PC Utopian BS that millennial imbeciles promote from their Chicano-Studies worthless 13th grade college equivalence degree they earned. LOL

As the Mexicans in California always say: “No habla Ingles Amigo. Juuw speak Espaniol? We’re takin owa Gringo!!!!!!!” LOL

  21. AlohaKakou says:

The pouting of a has-been to the new leader of the free world. Sad.

    • DannoBoy says:

Why are all the little SA Trumpettes, like Alohakakou, whining when Biden responds truthfully when asked about his concerns regarding the Tweetster-in-Chief? Are they afraid that little Donnie’s fragile ego can’t take it?

They had no problem with the many viciuos smears against the nation’s commander in chief and “leader of the free world” made by Republicans for the past 8 years, including Trump’s whacky birther campaign. They have had nothing but praise for the Dumpster’s ugly twitter attacks on his “many enemies (Trump’s words)”, including our sitting President.

You can bet that Biden, Obama, Clinton and the remainder of the Democratic establishment will continue calling Trump out on his obnoxious and erratuc behavior, they will do so for political reasons. But so will many brave Patriots who value America’s progressive tradition of decency, pragmatic governance and Constitutional ideals. Scared little Trumpettes don’t have the integrity to do do this.

No matter how badly Donald J. Trump behaves (the ‘j’ is for Jack@$$), his devotees will just bow down to their pampered hero, stroke his natcissism, whine and attack his critics, and defend his lies and flip-flops with more falshoods. As our petty Tyrant-in-Tweets has bragged, his frightened Trumpettes will mindlessly defend him no matter what he does: “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue, shoot somebody, and I wouldn’t lose any voters.”

    Biden. Classless

  23. okmaluna says:

The difference in skill sets between Trumps right hand MAN and O’s boot polisher is readily apparent.

  24. fairgame947 says:

Grow up should apply to all those people who continue to criticize and march and all other signs of dissatisfaction with the election results. It’s over! Move on.

  25. WizardOfMoa says:

Nice intellectuals never succumb to name calling! Criticism of Trump becomes a mirror images of yourself . Trump is the president-elect. Give him the respect due to his title. Any dissenters can leave the country or wait patiently till the next election and vote him out. In the intrim, it would be great if all would behave in accordance to their degree of intelligence and keep their offensive remarks in the privacy of their own homes. Mahalo!

    • DannoBoy says:

WHY WE SHOULD CALL TRUMP NAMES:

      1. Trump is unpopular. Clinton, as unlikable as she is, won millions more votes than Trump.

      2. It’s hard to resist the urge to insult Trump, and it’s his fault. Erratic and obnoxious behavior invites criticism and ridicule, but at least it gets attention. This has been true for “The Donald” who for many years has cultivated the “no press is bad press” mentality, even before he entered politiccs.

      3. Pay back. Trump and his supporters have shown “big league” disrespect to the man who currently holds the title. Republicans, including the Crotch-grabber-in-Chief, have been smearing President Obama with all manner of falsehoods throughout his two terms – even though Barry clearly won the most votes both times and is a good man and devoted husband.

      4. He started it. They say, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery,” if so then what is more respectful than following the lead of our POTUS-in-waiting. Tweety Twump is the biggest name-caller in American presidential history, and he’s only just begun. Just wait until children start looking up to Presodent Trump as their role model. How sadly ironic that conservatives who lament the coarsening of our culture are groveling before Stinky Donald Dumpster.

      5. 1st Ammendment. U.S. citizens still have the right to speak out freely about politics and to criticize our leaders as they see fit – especially leaders they see as unfit.

      6. Tradition. The roots of Amerocan political satire go deep, way, way back to the country’s founding… especially against rich, pampered bullies like mean King George and vulgar, tiny-fingered narcissists perched in gilded towers.

      • DannoBoy says:

(My apologies to Tweety Bird and Sylvester, to people with small hands, and to dumpsters everywhere)

Blow little DannoBoy..BLOW! Clinton needs to to keep blowing just like Monica did.

        • DannoBoy says:

Your nasty hero is an adulteter, a creepy sex offender and a greedy buffoon.

After bragging about trying to commit adultery with a married woman, Trump said this: “I’ve gotta use some tic tacs, just in case I start kissing her. And when you’re a star they let you do it, grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.”

Trump is a dirty old man, and an embarrassment to the nation.

          Biden is a humble gentleman.

    • keaukaha says:

Wizard so are you saying that we should show respect to someone who up till now has shown that the word respect is not in his vocabulary.

  27. 64hoo says:

a reply from me to biden and all you liberals at least trump does not have to sit up in bed most of the night with diapers and sucking his thumbs like biden, its over we have a real grown up man in the white house.

    • Cellodad says:

Nope, you’re right. He sits up at quarter-to-three in the morning to trash-tweet a has-been actor/governor’s ratings on a third-rate “reality” TV show.

      • 64hoo says:

cellodad the reason why he tweets is I already said he wants to give us all the stuff he says before giving it to the liberal press because the press would twist his words turning into half truths and lies that’s why we the people get it first and the press last. very smart man.

      • dragoninwater says:

Silly government worker, little do you know that you can set timers to send tweets/emails/messages for you at desired times without the need to even be awake at 3AM and these timers/triggers and bots have been around since the cave ages of computing.

  28. CEI says:

Crazy Uncle Joe who has never held a legitimate job outside of government lectures Trump.

  29. rytsuru says:

Regardless of which party you support, both have done little to make life easier for the average person in the United States, let us collectively hope that things get better.

    • cajaybird says:

Good post rytsuru. Interesting how government sure takes care of themselves. Washington, DC has been “booming”, especially for the past 8 years, which is expected from the Politburo.
