High surf advisory in effect for east shores
A strong north-northeast swell prompted weather officials to post a high surf advisory for the east shores of all island this morning.
Surf up to 5 to 8 feet is expected to roll in to affected shores. The advisory is in effect through 6 p.m. tonight.
“Expect strong breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents,” officials at the National Weather Service said.
“Beachgoers, swimmers and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.”
