Big Isle firefighters battle bowling alley blaze
Hawaii island firefighters extinguished a fire early this morning at a former bowling alley in Hilo.
Firefighters responded to the Hilo Lanes building, 777 Kinoole St., at 2:19 a.m. and found a 400-square foot attached storage area fully engulfed in flames, firefighters said.
The first units on scene quickly brought the fire under control and limited damage to the main building, which is vacant, firefighters said.
Damage was estimated at $40,000. The cause was not determined.
