Firefighters investigate Pahoa house fire
Big Island firefighters responded to a residential fire in Pahoa Thursday night.
At approximately 10 p.m., fire crews responded to the blaze at 15-1358 Kaohuwalu Dr. When firefighters arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters brought the fire under control in a half-hour and extinguished it at 10:40 p.m., according to the Hawaii County Fire Department.
The house, described as an unpermitted residential structure, was unoccupied at the time.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage to the structure is estimated at $10,000.
