Motorcyclist critically injured after crashing into pole in Pearl City
A 35-year-old man was taken to a hospital in critical condition early today after he was thrown from his motorcycle in Pearl City.
At approximately 1:20 a.m., police said the man was traveling westbound on Kamehameha Highway just past Kuala Street at a “high rate of speed.” He lost control of his motorcycle, veered onto a grassy median and back onto the roadway when he was thrown from his motorcycle onto the road.
Police said he was wearing a helmet.
Speed was a factor. It’s unknown at this time whether alcohol was involved.
Police shut down the highway between Kuala and Waihona Streets to investigate and reopened the roadway at about 4:20 a.m.
Police are continuing their investigation.

Beware of though`s nasty poles that jump out an gettcha, and what – HPD can do investigation in an hour when there`s not a thousand people they can inconvenience?
What’re Polish people thinking wandering the dark streets of Pearl City at night???
Main thing nobody else got hurt. Hopefully the pole wasn’t too damaged.
Last one for the road did him in.
The helmet saved his life.
Maybe, depends on how he crashed and what body parts got impacted. Friend saw a guy die on a motorcycle after he slid behind a vehicle and pierced his chest into a tailpipe of a pickup-truck and instantly die. Never once did his head touch the ground.
