Hawaii’s Allen again named Big West player of the week
Hawaii basketball wing Noah Allen was named Big West player of the week today for his efforts in a two-game road sweep for the Rainbow Warriors last week. It is his second such honor of the season.
Allen was quiet, with seven points and five turnovers, in a 72-63 win at UC Riverside on Thursday. But he erupted at Cal State Nothridge on Saturday, matching his career high of 34 points in guiding the ’Bows to a 76-72 victory.
UH improved to 11-11 overall and 5-4 in the Big West, a tie for fourth place heading into Thursday’s home game against Cal Poly (7-16, 2-7).
“Just stay consistent with our approach and demeanor, not getting content with the ground that we’ve made up,” Allen said today. “Hopefully that’ll continue with more success.”
Allen leads all Big West players in scoring in conference games at 18.4. He has three 30-point performances in the last six games, raising his overall season average to 14.5.
At CSUN’s Matadome, he shot 11-for-17 from the field (including 4-for-7 on 3s) and 8-for-10 from the free-throw line, while grabbing eight rebounds.
