A suspicious package was reported near Fort DeRussy today in Waikiki.

A team from the Army’s 303rd Explosive Ordnance Battalion was called in to assess a suspicious package found outside a Fort DeRussy building in Waikiki.

Maj. Lindsey Elder said the team found it was a bag of rocks with a message to the FBI “that didn’t make much sense,” and no detonation was necessary.

Police got the call at 1:45 p.m. today.

Elder said the bag was outside Fort DeRussy’s Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies.
