Quake strikes off coast of Big Isle; no tsunami expected
A light earthquake struck off the leeward coast of Hawaii island this morning, but no tsunami is expected.
The preliminary magnitude 4.5 quake struck at 5:33 a.m., 29.4 miles north of Kailua-Kona at a depth of 5.4 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said that no tsunami was expected, although some areas may have experienced shaking.
