A rally against Donald Trump stretches a few blocks along Central Park West in New York today. Demonstrators unhappy with President Donald Trump’s policies attended a “Not My Presidents Day” rally.

Thousands of demonstrators turned out today across the U.S. to challenge Donald Trump in a Presidents Day protest dubbed Not My President’s Day.

The protests on the federal holiday didn’t draw nearly as many people as the million-plus who thronged the streets following the Republican president’s inauguration a month earlier, but the message was similar.

Thousands of flag-waving protesters lined up outside Central Park in Manhattan. Many in the crowd chanted “No ban, no wall. The Trump regime has got to fall.” They held aloft signs saying “Uphold the Constitution Now” and “Impeach the Liar.”

Nova Calise, one of the New York City organizers, said Presidents Day was “a perfect time to protest the person that’s currently holding the title of President of the United States,” adding Trump didn’t share the values of those demonstrating today.

A rally in downtown Los Angeles also drew thousands. Demonstrators there called attention to Trump’s crackdown on immigration and his party’s response to climate change and the environment. Organizers said they chose to rally on the holiday as a way to honor past presidents by exercising their constitutional right to assemble and peacefully protest. They chanted: “Love not hate makes America great.”

In Chicago, several hundred rallied across the river from the Trump Tower, shouting “Hey, hey, ho, ho, Donald Trump has got to go.”

Rebecca Wolfram of Chicago, who’s in her 60s, said concerns about climate change and immigrant rights under Trump prompted her to start attending rallies.

“I’m trying to demonstrate as much as possible until I figure out what else to do,” said Wolfram, who held a sign that said “Old white ladies are really displeased.”

Several hundred demonstrated in Washington, D.C. Dozens gathered around the fountain in Dupont Circle chanting “Dump Trump” and “Love, not hate: That’s what makes America great.”

Dozens marched through midtown Atlanta for a rally named with a Georgia flavor: “ImPEACH NOW! (Not My) President’s Day March.”

Hundreds of protesters chanting “This is what democracy looks like” marched through Salt Lake City.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports that the crowd marched to push back against Trump and his administration’s stance on such issues as the environment, immigration, free speech and Russia.

Some people raised signs that said “Not My President,” while others held up a large American flag. Protester Reg Brookings warned the crowd that Trump is trying to divide the country by making such groups as immigrants the enemy.

A small but unruly group of protesters faced off with police in downtown Portland, Oregon.

The Oregonian/OregonLive reports the police confronted the crowd in front of the Edith Green-Wendell Wyatt Federal Building. Police took some people into custody.

Hundreds of Trump opponents and supporters turned out in Rapid City, South Dakota.

A larger anti-Trump faction stood on a street corner as part of a “Not My President” protest, similar to other demonstrations being held across the country. A group supporting the president lined up on a different corner at the same intersection. Police were on hand and the groups remained peaceful.

The Rapid City Journal reported the anti-Trump protesters held up posters including some reading, “Make America Think Again” and “Build bridges, not walls.” Supporters of the president waved American flags and held signs saying “God Bless our Presidents; Go Trump” and “Veterans for Trump.”

  1. Hitaxpayer says:

I have never seen so many children. Get over it Trump won and his is everyone’s President whether you like it or not. How about trying to work together for the good of country instead of whining?

    • keaukaha says:

You are seeing so many children in your mind because the Chump is so immature and mindless in his actions.

    • NanakuliBoss says:

My thoughts, for the past 8 years, y’all was whining about Obama, saying America would fall off the edge. Lol .still here, with Obama bringing America back from the brink of Bush induced economy failure and also with more jobs.

      • Pocho says:

huh, Barry doubled our National debt in his 8 year term. If you still can’t understand that, That’s Barry matching the entire debt of all prior Presidents combined before his reign.

        • Boots says:

So you would just let our Vets suffer? You think it costs nothing to fix veterans with problems? I attended a Tulsi’s office in Kailua last year where a Vet explained all the problems he experienced with the VA. Did not sound pleasant. .He should never had to go through this. Love how you phony conservatives support the troops until they are hurt.

        • sarge22 says:

President Trump will take care of the Vets. No worries. Tulsi is the President’s favorite Democrat. Pay attention bootsie and you may come back to reality. Donald J Trump is our President.

        • meat says:

Seems like Odummys spending was the topic, but you bring up the VA. Once a puppet ALWAYS a puppet. Weak.

    • TigerEye says:

Nah, nah… That was the crooked media using a funky camera angle and timing the shot at lunch hour (when everyone was going to street vendors to get hot dogs) to make it look like there were more demonstrators than there actually were.

In fact, there were fewer… many, many fewer demonstrators than any demonstration in history.

    • Mito says:

whoa, 5th weekend in a row post-inauguration protest crowds > Trump inauguration crowd

    • klastri says:

Hitaxpayer – This is being done to erode Trump’s support in congress. It’s working.

If he wants to be treated like a legitimate President, he might consider starting to act like one.

      • Boots says:

Exactly. Stop making things up. Come on Sweeden?

      • dragoninwater says:

hahahahahahaha hahahahahaa you’re the biggest joke of all the SA posters. Every time you open your fat trap exactly the opposite happens. I’m going to start using you as my crystal ball into the stock market and do exactly the opposite. LOL

      • GONEGOLFIN says:

If you are trying to compare what Trump is doing vs. past presidents, then, look no further. He has been in office for less than 2 months and done more than most presidents have done in their entire terms of office.
He is only doing what he promised, UNLIKE THE OTHERS.
Stop complaining-If you’re not part of the solution-you’re part of the problem.

        • Mito says:

…been in office < 2 months & done more DAMAGE than most presidents have done in their entire terms...

        • Mito says:

…been in office < 2 months & done more to build up his business interests than most presidents have done in their entire terms...

    • Boots says:

Obviously, i t is you who needs to get over it. lol
I know you don’t know this but we are supposed to be living in a free country where people are free to protest what they think is not right. Certainly many did under the prvious president. Today’s president invites protest due to his completely incompetancy. I have serious doubts that he will last till Christmas. Its been a mohty and what the hell has he done? Where are the new jobs? Instead he has to fill old jobs. lol

      • GONEGOLFIN says:

You said it Boots, “It’s been a month, and what’s he done”. Really, a month and you think our unemployment issues should have been resolved.
You could have said, “Oh, my Obama created plenty jobs, yet, we’ve given Trump a month already and what has he produced?”
Do you see the logic in your question?
Can you say 1 month = 8 years?
You really need to give us a valid argument.
Yes, Trump is unlike any other president that has come before us. Yes, he does not have the diplomacy of Obama, but, he is making things happen, and that is what many of us in this great country want.
It is not going to be an easy transition, but what part of transition is easy.
        Get over it already.

        • meat says:

“doubts he will last till Christmas”, this the same puppet that said the market will tank under President Trump. New record today. Riiiight earhole.

    • allie says:

Trump is not in any way presidential timber. My Mandan Nation rejects his message and his incompetence. We await the real president in 2020. America has chosen a very reckless course by allowing a foreign power to rig the election and put in an anti-American as “president.”

  2. keaukaha says:

Time to cancel the jer- of- king’s contract with America forever.

  3. MillionMonkeys says:

    Lol, Happy Presidents’ Day! 😀

  4. A_Reader says:

“Thousands of demonstrators turned out today across the U.S.”- Okay thats about 2000 divided by 50 States = to 40, no big deal. That many cry babies coming out to the streets thereʻs enough pampers to go around.

    • TigerEye says:

Yes. The crooked media reported thousands of… thousands and thousands of protesters when there weren’t any. Not a single one. NOT A SINGLE ONE. That’s what I was… that’s from something I saw on TV.

Ignore what you see, folks. Just keep your eyes on the watch… Your eyelids are getting heavy, so heavy…. Relaaaaxxxx….*

  5. yogaman says:

Mexico and Canada would probably take you in if you don’t like it here.

    • klastri says:

People have a responsibility in a democracy to rise up against tyranny.

    • TigerEye says:

Not liking “someone here” is not the same as not liking it “here.” That being said, you’re just as free to leave.

    • Boots says:

lol, no need to move. Far better to have a revolution here and throw out the bums. Come on where are the jobs the Donald promised us? And why hasn’t Mexico sent us a check to build a worthless wall? This is the most incompetent administration that I have ever seen in my life. Anyway having too much fun seeing what dumb statement the president makes each day.

      • GONEGOLFIN says:

My goodness Boots! Even God took 6 days to create the world and you expect the Donald to complete his promises within the time he’s been in office?
        You are too much!
Would you like some fries with that too!

  6. yogaman says:

Leave and make room for immigrants who appreciate democracy and our great country

    • klastri says:

I get it. You’re one of those “love it or leave it” folks? That’s not the way a democracy works. People use the other two co-equal branches of government to stop or prevent overreach (like Trump’s ridiculous, illegal Muslim ban) and to force change. Trump isn’t the King. He’s going to find out that the lower his approval rating sinks (and it’s pathetic now) the support in congress for his programs will disappear.

      • yogaman says:

You anti-Trump people call it a “Muslim ban” , pro-Trump people call it security precautions against terrorism. The problem I have with your point of view and the protesters is that it offers no solutions to the security problem in which half the country is concerned about. All I hear is fact less hate rhetoric that you all accused Trump of during his campaign. I don’t expect any of you to see the hypocracy in all of this. But for our country’s sake I do.

And yes. “Love it or leave it!” Because there is a long line of people who would to be US citizens

        • yogaman says:

          Love to be…

        • klastri says:

No. The opposition is in place to fight him. It’s going to grow until his support in congress is gone. No President can govern without the House and Senate, and he’s already written off the Judiciary.

          Trump’s an ignoramus.

No one is leaving, so give up that ridiculous fantasy. People are going to stay and fight. Get used to it.

        • yogaman says:

Ok . Have fun with your coup d’etat. I’ll make sure I wave to you and TigerEye when I drive by Trump Waikiki during your next protest

        • TigerEye says:

I take it your route to the airport takes you down Saratoga Street? I won’t be visiting Pyongyang anytime soon so I can’t say I’ll be returning your wave at your new digs. But, you be sure to enjoy your protest-free, blissful (albeit food-rationed) existence…. Breathe deeply, back straight… Strrrrretch!

      • Ronin006 says:

“That’s not the way a democracy works.” Great comment, klastri. I will tell you how our democracy is supposed to work. We have elections for political office and we have rules and even laws governing the conduct thereof. In our democracy, when someone wins accordance to the rues or laws, we are supposed to accept the results even when our preferred candidate does not win. Unfortunately, that is not happening in our democracy today. Many people are protesting Trump’s lawful election, including many people who did not even vote in the election and many, if not most of the people protesting Trump’s policies, haven’t the foggiest idea about what they are protesting. You see this as democracy; I see it as ignorance and anarchy.

        • klastri says:

Except that the Constitution allows and even encourages protest. You don’t get to make up your own Constitution.

Why would you lie about people not knowing what they’re protesting about? Can’t you just be truthful for once?

You need to look up the meaning of the word anarchy. You obviously don’t understand what that word means.

        • dragoninwater says:

Ronin006, Klastri is a lost cause, debating with her/it or whatever in the world Klastri really is, is like trying to have an intelligent conversation with your television set. LOL

      • GONEGOLFIN says:

Again, you just do not quite get it. it was not a “Muslim” ban. It was a 7 country middle-east ban which just happens to harbor predominately muslim.
You could go to another part of the world let’s say china and create a ban for terrorism, then, you’d have a complaint that the Buddhist’s would be unfairly treated.

    • TigerEye says:

You leave. Make room for immigrants who appreciate the democratic process. If you don’t believe in protests, why not try someplace like N. Korea? No protests there… Must be because they’re so in love with life in their “great country.”

      • yogaman says:

Oh, I believe in our constitutional freedoms. Its basis on which these protests are held that gets me chapped. The POTUS was democratically elected and much of the protest rhetoric is not based on facts.

And yes, I would leave if I did not believe in our country and the constitution it’s built on. That’s the perception I get when I see these idiots protesting

    • NanakuliBoss says:

Lol,yoga,as a trumpie you ask Americans to leave then say it will make room for immigrants? Your an Ox and Moron.

      • yogaman says:

The US was built by immigrants and we are a nation of immigrants. NanakuliBoss, I feel sorry for you that you have to resort to name calling to make your point. BTW: being against illegal immigration and caring about the security of this country is not about being anti-immigration. If you have a better solution than Trump, share it rather than waste your energy with your hate.

  7. 64hoo says:

nothing new here folks only thousands of left wing trump haters where millions of trump supporters stayed home and laughed at those people making fools of themselves.

    • Boots says:

But where are the new jobs the Donald has promissed us? Come on 64, don’t you want a new minimum wage job flipping burgers?

      • 50skane says:

Liberals are just big cry babies who cannot stand to lose. The old saying is “if you are 25 and not yet a liberal then you have no heart but if you are 40 and not yet a conservative then you have no brains.” The liberals and Dems think with their hearts and not their brains. Look where that got Germany and France and the entire European continent when the let in all the Mideast refugees without vetting them. Tons of terrorists attacks on their airports, night clubs, market places and it is still continuing if you would read their local newspapers. It so common now it doesn’t make the worldwide news unless it is really big.

  8. retire says:

A big round of cheese to go with their whines.

  9. jussayin says:

Thousands protested in New York City with a population of over 8 million. Hundreds in Chicago with nearly 3 million people. Hmmm … doesn’t seem like national news, local maybe. Media continues to be left biased. Neutral reporting would be a refreshing change.

  10. wave1 says:

Eh, you protesters are the Peeps trying to Devide the Country. You lost, now move along…

    • klastri says:

Not really, no. They’re trying to reduce Trump’s support in congress.

      Welcome to the Constitution.

      • Andrew1 says:

Klastri…you still spreading fake info here bro??? You’re telling me that you have the inside scoops to the entire GOP legislative folks? You spout of unverifiable shibai here or slant the truth. This is your opinion and I can respect that. Here is my opinion. You are wrong. Here is another opinion, you support what truly divides this country…hate. I see nothing but hatred coming from left. You and you’re ill fated political ideologies are showing its true ugliness. So go ahead and spout off more fake news. It only emboldens those of that truly love our great country.

  11. latenightroach says:

And if crooked Hillary had won she wouldn’t be my president.

  12. Smiley7 says:

There are no walls to keep you folks in, leave the country since you despise Americans and love illegals. All those celebs who said they would leave, haven’t. That’s the big problem for the left, unable to keep promises and lying with a straight face. Too bad Hawaii hasn’t woken up. Auwe!

    • seaborn says:

Ted Nugent said he’d be dead or in jail should Obama become President (before Obama’s FIRST term), yet he remains alive and free to roam. Celebrities.

  13. lokela says:

DT won. Period. Move on. If you don’t like it move to another country. I didn’t vote for DT but he is our President. Way too much media attention on him. Just let him do his job. I’m just sitting back and let it play out. Like it or not.

  14. seaborn says:

People have the right to protest. Look at the GOP. The day Obama took office, the GOP signed with Grover Norquist to obstruct every piece of legislation Obama ever presented. They did that, and not much else, for 8 years.
Now, it’s time for the Democrats to react. But, this time Democrats are protesting someone who is threatening our air and water, ruining our country’s relationship with other countries, is both friends with and scared of his Russian counterpart, has managed to make a whole segment of the U.S. population distrust the media, and has chosen people to head cabinet positions that are not only unqualified, but also have views completely skewed from the jobs they are nominated to perform.
Democrats are protesting. It is their right.

    • sarge22 says:

Stop whining. Come back in four years and try harder. President Trump is doing what he promised and there is nothing wrong with that.

      • seaborn says:

Not whining, just sharing facts. You don’t know facts, as you continue to support a man who lies EVERY time there is a microphone within range. Yes, we are stuck with the Liar in Chief until circumstances change, hopefully before the other 3 3/4 years of damage to America’s credibility occurs.

    • wave1 says:

Sure peeps have the right to PEACEFUL protest, not slash and burn other peoples property, and assault…

  15. realsamfisher says:

Trump is a bully and a hypocrite. These people have a right to protest. For the past year I have been debating where to move to and seek citizenship outside the US. Trump making me escalate. Maybe Canada since I know the anthem and could qualify. I could get cizenship, denounce US citizenship or give it to a refugee, turn in my deputy badge, my MoHs, my Purple Hearts, sign over my US estate, and be done with it. No more taxes to the US or thus damn state. Then I can truly retire.

  16. Carang_da_buggahz says:

I always wonder how all of these people have the time and energy to be out protesting against our President. I would have loved to have demonstrated against our former Community Organizer-in-Chief. But, you know, I’m just too tired after a long hard day at work to muster up the energy. I mean, someone’s got to earn a living to pay the taxes that support this great country.

  17. laachang says:

C’mon boys and girls……the majority has voted and Donald Trump IS your president!!!

  18. Marauders_1959 says:

There wouldn’t be this mass hysteria against the POTUS if he was black.

    It’s called an “Election” folks.
    Your candidate lost.
    Mine won.
Get over it, I did, when your candidate won… TWICE !!!

  19. HOSSANA says:

I have no sympathy for these protesters. President Trump is doing exactly what he said he would when elected President and has shown more Profile In Courage than Obamma and the previous libtard Presidents by deporting these illegal, I repeat, ILLEGAL immigrants who have been convicted of felonies or serious misdeameanors. Legal immigrants working to gain citizenship should have no fear but all these illegals are running scared because they know they are here illegally and did not even take the time to work toward citizenship and therefore, Trump is right by deporting these illegals. Nothing more and nothing less. Do you even think Clinton would touch this issue if she was the President. No way. If people read between the lines, then there should be no fear but the news media and people like Clinton are fanning the wave of fear which is why we have all these protestors…if Trump is not their President, then MOVE TO CANADA or SOME OTHER COUNTRY like Iran, Mexico where you would be welcome with open arms esp. all the celebrities who “mouth” that they would leave the country if Trump was elected President but did they relocate…..NO……all mouth and no action.
