Reduced weight, speed limits in effect for stretch of Ala Moana Boulevard

Dan Nakaso

The state Department of Transportation has imposed a temporary vehicle weight limit of 25 tons for both directions of Ala Moana Boulevard between Piikoi and Queen streets for sewer work and reduced the speed limit to 25 mph.

A single lane closure in the eastbound direction of Ala Moana Boulevard also may be necessary, DOT said.

DOT officials said the weight and speed restrictions will be in place through March until crews can install additional shoring for the Ala Moana Boulevard Pensacola Relief Sewer following. An inspection last month mandated immediate repairs, according to DOT.
