4.2 quake strikes off Windward Oahu; no tsunami

    A preliminary 4.2 magnitude quake struck off Windward Oahu this morning.

A preliminary magnitude 4.2 earthquake off of Windward Oahu early this morning may have woken up some residents, but it does not pose a tsunami threat.

The quake struck at 3:03 a.m., 56.5 miles east-northeast of Kailua at a depth of 10.6 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The Pacific Tsunami Center said in a statement that “no tsunami is expected,” although some areas may have experienced shaking.
