Hawaii volleyball team beats Cal State Northridge
Senior hitter Kupono Fey and sophomore hitter Brett Rosenmeier each put down 16 kills and No. 4 Hawaii extended its school-record home winning streak to 21 when turning back No. 14 Cal State Northridge in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation volleyball match 25-19, 25-17, 19-25, 25-17 tonight at the Stan Sheriff Center.
The Rainbow Warriors (22-4, 12-4 MPSF) finished 17-0 at home, their first perfect home season since going 8-0 in 1988 in Klum Gym.
Junior opposite Arvis Green led the Matadors (12-14, 5-12) with 15 kills. Sophomore hitter Dimitar Kalchev added 12 kills in CSUN’s eighth straight loss.
Hawaii outblocked CSUN 12-10 with senior setter Jennings Franciskovic in on five, including three solo.
The Warriors finish out the regular season at UCLA on April 7 and 8. Hawaii likely will host an MPSF quarterfinal match on April 15 but has not clinched yet.
