The Hawaii Swish completed an unbeaten run through an abbreviated American Basketball Association schedule, defeating the Las Vegas Jokers 105-96 on Thursday at the Blaisdell Arena.
Forward Leon Ballard scored 30 points and owner/guard Geremy Robinson added 25 for the Swish, who went 4-0 in their trial season.
The Swish had an 11-point lead cut to three late in the third quarter. Las Vegas rallied to tie it at 92 with under three minutes left, but Pii Minns drove for the go-ahead basket. Robinson had a late 3-pointer and dunk to help the Swish pull away.
The Jokers’ Frederick Banks scored 35 points.
UH Hilo baseball rallies past Holy Names
Cole Nagamine singled in Kyle Yamada with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Hawaii Hilo baseball team rallied past Holy Names 8-7 on Thursday at Francis Wong Stadium.
Earlier in the inning, Yamada squeezed in a run and Marcus Calamese scored on a fielding error.
Jacob Grijalva and Nagamine homered for the Vulcans (4-13).
Nick Snyder and Joshua Nelson both drove in two runs for the Hawks (6-24).
UH soccer sweeps Spain games
The University of Hawaii soccer team will head home with a 2-0 record on its tour of Spain after defeating club team Rayo Vallecano 3-0 in Madrid on Thursday.
Forwards Tia Furuta, Kellsie Gleason and Sarah Lau scored for the Rainbow Wahine in the exhibition. Goalkeepers Alexis Mata and Evelyn Fierros combined for the shutout.
UH beat CE Sant Gabriel 2-1 in Barcelona on Tuesday.
