A 15-year-old boy was arrested Friday for investigation of passing a counterfeit bill to a teacher to buy scrips for a school fair in Kapolei, police said.

The boy tried to buy $5 worth of scrips for food with the fake $100 bill at about 9:15 a.m. Friday, police said.

The teacher gave the fake bill back to the boy, but then told another teacher, who told the main office. The boy was called into the main office, where he handed over the counterfeit bill and police were called, police said.

Officers arrested the boy for investigation of first-degree forgery at about 11:50 a.m. Friday. He was released pending investigation.
