Hundreds of people walked down University Avenue on Saturday during Honolulu’s March for Science. The march was held nationally and internationally on Earth Day in support of science.

Participants held signs during a rally for the March for Science event held held at the University of Hawaii at Manoa on Saturday.

The goals of Saturday’s march were to build a local community of advocates for the sciences, encourage an environment where scientists can share their discoveries without fear of retribution and promote fact-based decisions in policy-making.

The Honolulu event was hosted by UH-Manoa but funded by donations and T-shirt sales online, about 800 of which were sold.
