Single-vehicle crash in Kunia leaves 3 seriously injured

Emergency Medical Services transported three people to the hospital after they were involved in a single-vehicle crash in Leeward Oahu early today.

The crash occurred at about 2:50 a.m. EMS reported a vehicle was traveling at “a high rate of speed” on the eastbound lanes of the H-1 freeway when it slammed into a guard rail before the Kunia off-ramp.

The vehicle overturned and flipped onto a grassy embankment.

Paramedics transported the occupants — an 18-year-old man, a man in his 20s and a 15-year-old girl — to a hospital in serious condition.

The crash caused traffic congestion on the freeway as police shut down the eastbound lanes to remove the vehicle from the embankment. Police said lanes were reopened just before 5:20 a.m.
