Hawaii’s second Applebee’s Grill + Bar, at Ka Makana Alii in Kapolei, staged its grand opening Monday, after its soft opening a month ago.
The first location opened in Ewa Town Center in November, and the next location is under construction.
The Pearlridge Center Applebee’s, in the former Farrell’s space, is set to open in October, said Vince Espino, president of Union MAK Corp., which is the Hawaii franchisee for Applebee’s and IHOP.

The Kapolei location has the largest floor plan thus far of Hawaii’s three Applebee’s. It is 5,600 square feet, with seating for 230 guests. The Ewa location is smaller, at 3,700 square feet with seating for 150. Pearlridge’s Applebee’s will measure 4,400 square feet and will seat 160 “because we don’t want it to be cramped,” Espino said.
The menu changes every quarter, said Khokon Haque, vice president of operations. However, core menu items such as the signature Chicken Wonton Taco appetizer, bone-in pork chop with honey apple chutney, and Triple Chocolate Meltdown dessert are constants, he said.
Steak, pork, chicken, pasta dishes and meal-size salads like a chimichurri-topped steak salad are plentiful on the menu, which also includes lighter fare, choices from a full bar, and nonalcoholic drinks including signature sodas and lemonades.
At the same time the third Applebee’s is set to open at Pearlridge, Espino’s sixth IHOP location in Hawaii is slated to open on Paiea Street, in the airport area.
