Ko Hana Rum Distillery will stage a celebrity chef dining event and silent auction to benefit the nonprofit Honolulu Habitat for Humanity on Saturday.
The company is offering bus service for city folk who view the drive to Central Oahu as “incommodious.”
The Kunia distillery, in the former Del Monte General Store and Post Office, will host food stations by The Pig & the Lady, Fete Hawaii, Fish House at Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina, the Pili Group and Nosh Hawaii.
Kona Brewing Co. beer and, of course, Ko Hana Rum cocktails will be served.
A private tour of the facility is also part of the event, as well as a silent auction to include items from ReStore, Honolulu Habitat for Humanity’s home improvement and donation center.
VIP Hour and private tours begin at 5 p.m. with the formal event to run from 6 to 8:30 p.m. VIP tickets, including round-trip bus transportation from Honolulu, are $95, while general admission tickets are $65. Tickets are available via buildaloha.org.

Duck Butt begets DB Grill in Kapolei
Cafe Duck Butt has expanded to Kapolei from Kakaako with the soft opening of DB Grill Monday at the makai-Waianae corner of Kapolei Commons.
A new concept bearing the Duck Butt initials, DB Grill, will open at 11 a.m. daily for lunch and will stay open until midnight Sundays through Thursdays and until 1 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
Cafe Duck Butt opens in the evenings and is a popular karaoke bar serving Korean and other Asian food, but the new location will be its own unique operation.
Henry Yoon and Jin Hong took over Cafe Duck Butt in Kakaako in 2010 and revamped the bar and restaurant. The brothers-in-law had been looking to expand, “and we got invited to come out here and we liked the idea,” Yoon said.
The new, 2,200-square-foot spot seats 122. A soon-to-be-finished mezzanine will be able to accommodate two additional parties of 20 each in its lounge-type space.
The menu at DB Grill has at least three menu favorites from the Kakaako location, but with executive chef Ed Choi Morris (formerly of Four Seasons Resort, Disney Aulani and Side Street Inn) and sous-chef Kaleo Sayapeth (formerly of MW Restaurant) in the kitchen, a wide variety of new, seasonal dishes has been created.
Lunch is themed “plates and bowls,” with quick service and an average price of $15, Yoon said. Pupu are $8 to $12, with the average dinner item priced at $20.
The restaurant’s grand opening is tentatively set for next month. Visit db-grill.webflow.io.
