Waipahu man arrested after he allegedly chokes wife

Police arrested a 28-year-old man after he allegedly choked his 25-year-old wife in Waipahu.

At about 7:20 a.m. Thursday, the suspect choked the victim in the presence of their child. Police said the suspect fled before officers arrived.

That evening, the 28-year-old man returned home and police were called.

The suspect was arrested at an Awamoku Street residence on suspicion of abuse of a family or household member in the presence of a child younger than 14.
