Man in critical condition after Nuuanu love triangle clash

Police arrested a 38-year-old man after he allegedly struck his wife’s boyfriend with his truck in Nuuanu.

At about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday near the Nuuanu YMCA on the Pali Highway, police said the suspect struck the victim, 39, causing injury. Police said Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a hospital in critical condition.

Police arrested the 38-year-old man near YMCA on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder.

Police also arrested the suspect’s wife, 34, at the same location on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening after she allegedly wielded a bat during an argument with her boyfriend.

It’s unclear at this time whether the suspect’s wife wielded the bat at the victim before or after the suspect struck the 39-year-old man with his vehicle.
