Police identify woman who died in Hilo car crash

A 22-year-old Hilo woman who died in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 19 in Hilo has been identified as Micaila Tellio.

At about 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, a 2004 Honda sedan operated by Tellio was traveling northbound on the highway near Nahala Street when the vehicle ran off the roadway.

Police said Tellio was taken to Hilo Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

This is the 21st traffic-related fatality on the Big Island compared to 12 at the same time last year.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call police officer Casey Cabral of the Hawaii Police Department at 961-2329 or e-mail Casey.Cabral@hawaiicounty.gov.

Tipsters also may call CrimeStoppers at 961-8300.
