Amy Pottinger was eliminated from “Food Network Star” tonight.

Falling short on a mock TV show about twists on Game Day classic foods got Amy Pottinger eliminated from “Food Network Star” on the episode aired tonight.

The Air Force spouse from Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam prepared a cheese-stuffed mini-burger “slider” that was to be a mash-up of sliders and nachos for the mock show in which her fellow contestants also prepared combinations of classic foods consumed while watching football.

She was one of four remaining contestants from 12 original finalists and one returning contestant from a previous season, all eliminated in previous episodes.

“Obviously I didn’t want to go home today,” she said at the end of the episode. “This was a really enriching, once-in-a-lifetime kind of experience, but it was a pretty stiff competition and nine people went home before I did.”

“I’m proud I made it as far as I did,” she said, adding, “I just wish I’d made it all the way.”

The result of her last-ditch chance to rejoin the main competition, via the online-only “Star Salvation” battles, will be revealed in a week on the next “Food Network Star” episode.

Before the show began its Season 13 run, Pottinger could not reveal the outcome of her time on the show but told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser in May that she planned to begin culinary training at the Gros Bonnet Culinary Academy in the fall.
