Man charged in robbery of cabdriver

One of two suspects has been charged in the robbery of a taxi driver in Kalihi.

Samson Isaako, also known as Samson Tagataese, was charged Saturday with first-degree robbery and first-degree criminal property damage. His aggregate bail is set at $75,000.

Shortly after 1 a.m. Friday, police said, a 24-year-old taxi driver picked up a man. While the cab was stopped at a traffic light, a second man later identified as Isaako approached the driver’s window and brandished a dangerous instrument.

Police said the other man held the driver down while both culprits took the victim’s unspecified property.

The two men fled the scene, but police located and arrested Isaako on North King Street shortly afterward.

Police said the other man remains at large.

Intruder confronted by resident

Police are looking for a man who robbed a home in McCully.

At about 12:10 a.m. Sunday, police said, the robber entered the residence and attempted to take personal property when he was confronted by a resident.

The suspect brandished a knife before he fled on foot.

No injuries were reported.

Boy arrested over June 18 robbery

Police arrested a 17-year-old boy after he allegedly robbed a 15-year-old boy in Kapahulu.

At about 11:05 a.m. June 18, police said, the suspect assaulted the victim and stole his personal belongings. The suspect also brandished an undisclosed dangerous instrument at the victim during the robbery.

Police located the suspect Friday night and arrested him on suspicion of first-degree robbery.
