Introducing Star-Advertiser subscriber notifications

Our team is constantly making updates to staradvertiser.com, both to the stories we publish on the site and to the functionality of the site itself.

Sometimes there are so many changes, they can be difficult to keep up with.

We wanted a better way to communicate with you when we have updates, whether it’s a breaking story, a new feature on the website or important information about your account.

So today, we’re adding a notifications feature to the site.

When logged in to staradvertiser.com, you’ll see a new bell icon at the top-right of any page, next to the “My Account” button.

If breaking news stories have been published since you last logged in, the icon will display a number, up to 15.

Click the icon and you’ll see those recently published stories in a dropdown menu, which you can use to scroll through and click on the stories.

At the bottom of the menu, you can click to reset notices if they aren’t displaying properly.

We’ll also use this notifications menu to update you on new features — such as this one — and provide information about your account, including subscription renewals.

In the coming months, we plan to continue updating and expanding on this new feature. Of course, we’ll notify you when we do.

In the meantime, please leave a comment below to let us know what you think of the notifications feature. We would also love to hear any thoughts you have on how we can make it better.

By participating in online discussions you acknowledge that you have agreed to the Terms of Service. An insightful discussion of ideas and viewpoints is encouraged, but comments must be civil and in good taste, with no personal attacks. If your comments are inappropriate, you may be banned from posting. Report comments if you believe they do not follow our guidelines. Having trouble with comments? Learn more here.
