Hurricane Kenneth intensified into a Category 3 major hurricane on Sunday as it continued its movement toward the Central Pacific.

As of 5 p.m. Sunday, the storm was 1,315 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California, carrying maximum sustained winds of 115 mph and moving west-northwest at 10 mph.

Kenneth is expected to continue at the same rate through Tuesday and may intensify further on Monday before starting to weaken.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles from the center of the storm.
