It’s been 14 years since the first Hawaii Cheesecake Factory location opened in Waikiki. Next week we get our second, at Ka Makana Ali‘i mall in Kapolei.
Tucked in a corner not far from California Pizza Kitchen and across the parking lot from H&M, the new Cheesecake Factory opens Tuesday.
Hours will be 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays, 11:30 a.m. to midnight Fridays, 10 a.m. to midnight Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays.
TABLES FOR A CAUSE
Feel like treating your friends to a really special night out, and for a good cause, too?
Consider the Good Table, taking place Oct. 5 at restaurants across Oahu as a benefit for Lanakila Meals on Wheels. Each participating restaurant has set aside one table for one special menu for one group of diners.
Eleven tables are up for sale, and a few already have been purchased, although Lanakila Pacific hopes to have more than 20 available over the next two weeks. They range from $600 for six diners at Mud Hen Water to $2,500 for six at Alan Wong’s or Michel’s.
Check it out at thegoodtable.org. Table sales end Sept. 29.
Party sizes vary and some menus are posted. Proceeds help to fund the more than 8,000 meals delivered weekly to homebound seniors through Meals on Wheels. Call 497-9868 or 226-0078.
GIVING MADE EASY FOR HURRICANE RELIEF
For a quick way to contribute to hurricane relief efforts, check out the supermarket.
Through Sept. 30, shoppers at Foodland Super Market and Sack N Save stores can tell their cashier they would like to make a donation to the American Red Cross. The donation amount — from 1 cent to $249 — will be added to the total purchase.
Foodland collects for other nonprofits through its Give Aloha program as well, including Hawaii Habitat for Humanity.
Through today Safeway is also collecting at checkout for victims of Hurricane Harvey. Specify a donation of $1, $3 or $5.
Safeway spokeswoman Wendy Gutshall said the funds raised will go to several relief and outreach organizations in Southeast Texas.
Also, Burgers and Things restaurant is donating 10 percent of its sales through Sunday to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.
Funds will go to the Salvation Army. Diners are invited to make additional donations all month at the restaurant, at 1991 Pauoa Road. Call 971-1946 or visit burgersandthings.com.
