HPD investigating attempted robbery in Waipahu

Police are investigating an alleged attempted robbery in Waipahu where a male suspect ended up running away from a woman he attempted to rob.

At about 1 a.m. Sunday, police said the suspect approached a parked white truck in a parking lot occupied by a woman who was waiting for her husband who was about to get off work.

The suspect then abruptly opened the passenger side door and brandished a handgun in an attempt to rob her.

A surveillance video shows the woman confronting the suspect. The culprit then ran away after she briefly chased him.

Anyone with information on the male suspect is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300.
