CRAIG T. KOJIMA / CKOJIMA@STARADVERTISER.COM

Jeanne Vana, right, holding a pizza and homegrown veggies, is a Waialua farmer who will be affected by the closure of Waialua Community Kitchen. The commercial kitchen was established by nonprofit Friends for Waialua Town with state and federal help to foster businesses and jobs for former Waialua Sugar Co. workers when the sugar mill shut down in 1996. With her is Edith Ramiscal with some of her homemade pickles.
