Police are investigating the attempted kidnapping of a 10-year-old boy in Ewa Beach Tuesday morning while he was walking to school.
Police said a male suspect tried to coax the boy into his vehicle at 7 a.m. The Department of Education said a student at Keoneula Elementary School reported an attempted abduction but could not reveal the age or gender of the child.
The school sent a letter home to parents and guardians on Tuesday that said the student was walking to school on Kaipalaoa Street when a male in a black truck pulled up alongside the student and told him to get into his truck. The male suspect then grabbed the student and tried to pull him into the truck, the vice principal wrote.
The student managed to get away and reported the incident to the school staff and to his parents, and police were notified.
