As expected, Mililani clinched the OIA Red division title with a victory over visiting Nanakuli on Saturday.
Dillon Gabriel completed 30 of 45 passes for 317 yards and three touchdowns as the No. 3 Trojans won 44-33.
Fourteen Mililani players caught passes.
Nanakuli made a game of it by scoring 26 unanswered points in the fourth quarter against the Mililani reserves.
The Trojans’ Charm Lomibao intercepted the Golden Hawks’ first pass of the game and returned it 20 yards for a touchdown. Kilifi Malepeai added a 1-yard run, Reichel Vegas caught a 22-yard scoring pass from Gabriel and Damien Santiago hit a field goal as Mililani (7-0, 6-0 OIA D-I) took a 24-0 lead after the first quarter.
Nanakuli (1-6, 1-5) was held to minus-19 yards of total offense in the first half.
The Golden Hawks’ points came on a 60-yard pick-6 by Chase Morgan off a deflected pass late in the first half, which cut Nanakuli’s deficit to 27-7.
Morgan also had a 28-yard fumble return for a score in the fourth quarter.
