Issac Jaffurs and Kyeton Littel ended Justin Arcano and Justin Ngan’s run Saturday at Kapalua Bay, capturing Hawaii’s qualifying spot for the 2018 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball.
Jaffurs and Littel fired a 5-under-par 67 to win by a shot. Littel birdied the 17th and Jaffurs the 18th.
The teams of George Downing/Sean Nowak, Tyler Isono/Mark Takahama and Matthew Ma/Tyler Ota tied for second. Ma/Ota is first alternate and Downing/Nowak second alternate.
Arcano and Ngan, who represented Hawaii at the last two four-balls, shot 71 to finish seventh.
The 2018 national championship is next May in Florida.
HSWGA stroke play limited to 24 players
This year’s Hawaii State Women’s Golf Association members-only Stroke Play Championship is Oct. 24-25 at Mid-Pacific Country Club. The field is limited to 24.
Applications are available at HSWGA.net. The tournament is open to HSWGA members with a GHIN handicap index of 20.0 or less as of Oct. 1. Championship flight will play with no handicap, other flights will be handicapped. Entry deadline is Oct. 21.
Former LPGA player Patty Schremmer won the first two members-only championships in 2015 and 2016.
