An evening devoted to rieslings is planned for Oct. 17 at Alan Wong’s restaurant, with winemaker Ernst Loosen of the Dr. Loosen estate in Mosel, Germany.
Loosen will introduce the seven wines to be served with a five-course menu. The exception to the riesling rule will be a 2008 pinot noir, “Appassionata,” produced in a partnership between Loosen and Oregon’s J. Christopher Wines.
Only five barrels of this vintage were produced. It will be paired with a tartare of Niihau Ranch eland.
Also on the menu: citrus-cured kampachi, butter-poached Keahole lobster, spice-rubbed shutome and dessert of halo halo with “drunken island fruits.”
Cost is $150. Reservations required; call 949-2526.
