Firefighters extinguished around midday today three separate grass fires along a Maui highway.

The Maui Fire Department got the first call at 11:53 a.m. from drivers on Honoapiilani Highway of at least two fires on the makai side of the road between McGregor Point and the Scenic Lookout.

Fire crews found at 12:04 p.m. a strip of grass 100 feet long by 10 feet wide burning near McGregor Point.

An engine company found a 20-foot by 20-foot grass fire a few hundred yards west of the first one.

A third fire, about the same size, was found several hundred yards west of the second fire and was extinguished by another crew.

The cause of the three fires was undetermined. They were extinguished at 12:40 p.m.
