Deadline for DACA renewals looms

Hawaii Attorney General Douglas Chin issued a reminder that renewal requests for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals applications must be mailed overnight today in order to make the deadline.

The DACA renewal applications must be received by Thursday, according to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard also tweeted a reminder to her followers: “#DACA renewal applications sent today must be overnighted for USCIS to receive by tomorrow’s deadline.”

Gabbard is hosting a live immigration-focused “telephone town hall” at 4 p.m. today with local and national immigration experts from the ACLU Hawaii, Hawaii Civil Rights Coalition and National Immigration Law Center. Participants can call 888-476-4187 at 4 p.m. to participate.
