Josch Cuerten had a hat trick as the Hawaii Pacific men’s soccer team beat Hawaii Hilo 3-0 on Saturday at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park.
Cuerten scored at 39:42, 43:14 and 55:16 for the Sharks (4-4-2, 2-3-1 PacWest).
Mario Garcia Velez assisted on the first two goals and Daniel Arnoll made three saves for HPU.
The Vulcans fell to 0-9, 0-6.

Four Vulcans score in win over Sharks
Four players scored goals in the Hawaii Hilo women’s soccer team’s 4-0 victory over Hawaii Pacific on Saturday at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park.
Bryana-Marie Ebbers (12:45), Danika Steele (42:38), Carlie Reader (80:16) and Astrid Perez (87:15) scored for the Vulcans (6-3-1, 3-2-1 PacWest). Jenna Hufford made five saves.
The Sharks dropped to 6-4-1, 2-3-1.

Chaminade swept by Concordia
Emma Tecklenburg had 10 kills, but the Chaminade volleyball team fell to Concordia 25-19, 25-17, 25-23 in Irvine, Calif.
The Silverswords fell to 9-6, 4-3 PacWest, while the Eagles improved to 6-8, 2-5.
Jaffurs tied for 89th at U.S. Mid-Amateur
Haleiwa’s Isaac Jaffurs shot a 4-over-par 74 and is tied for 89th after the first round of the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship on Saturday in Atlanta.
Chad Wilfong of Charlotte, N.C., leads at 67.
The top 64 after two rounds of stroke play will advance to match play.
The second round of stroke play will be played Monday due to weather concerns.
UH Hilo women’s golf team finishes last
The Hawaii Hilo women’s golf team shot a final-round 395 Saturday to finish eighth and last at the Saint Martin’s Invitational in Olympia, Wash.
The Vulcans finished at 205-over-par 781. Hilo’s top golfer was Keely Kitamura, who was tied for 39th at 44-over 188.
Avril Li won medalist honors at 8-over 152 for British Columbia, Canada, which took the team title at 637.
