Pupukea’s Mason Ho has been given the wild-card slot to compete in the Rip Curl Pro Portugal, Rip Curl announced on Wednesday.
Ho last competed at the Rip Curl Pro Portugal in 2015, when he advanced to the third round.
This year, Ho faces fellow North Shore surfer and 2016 world champion John John Florence in the first round.
The waiting period for the event begins Friday in Supertubos, Peniche, Portugal.
Hawaii Pacific men’s golf tops Chaminade
The Hawaii Pacific men’s golf team topped Chaminade in a dual match at the Kaneohe Klipper Course on Wednesday.
Both teams suited up five golfers. The Sharks outshot the Silverswords with a team total of 22-over-par 310 compared to 35-over 323 from Chaminade. HPU’s Minsu Lee earned the top individual score of the day with a 1-over 73.
