One inmate was captured while another remained missing Wednesday after the two men escaped from Kauai Community Correctional Center earlier in the day.
Joshua Kaimana Preston was captured by Kauai police, while Kamoeli‘i Kolo is still missing, according to the state Department of Public Safety.
Both Preston and Kolo, members of the jail’s Lifetime Stand rehabilitation program, left the facility during open recreation time.
Kolo, 35, is 5-foot-6 and weighs 165 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.
Sentenced on a misdemeanor charge, he is a community custody inmate with the lowest classification status. His release date was May 21, 2018, but now both he and Preston face an additional escape charge.

Boy hit by car in Makaha in serious condition
A 9-year-old boy was in serious condition Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle in Makaha while crossing the street, Emergency Medical Services personnel reported.
The incident occurred at 84668 Lahaina St. at about 1:15 p.m. The child was treated by paramedics and transported to a hospital.
No other information available.
