A 23-year-old Ewa Beach man is scheduled to appear in Honolulu District Court this morning on charges that he threatened and assaulted a 51-year-old man.
Police charged Dion Kitzmiller with terroristic threatening and second-degree assault Saturday and set his bail at $100,000. They say Kitzmiller used a weapon to threaten and assault the 51-year-old man just after midnight Saturday.
They arrested him 10 minutes later at a South Beretania Street address.
Kitzmiller was arrested and charged with attempted murder and firearm violations in July 2016 in connection with a shooting in Makakilo. Circuit Judge Glenn Kim dismissed the charges earlier this month when two key state witnesses, including the man who was allegedly shot at, failed to show up to testify in Kitzmiller’s trial.
The shooting happened 2-1/2 months after Kim had sentenced Kitzmiller to four years of probation for robbery, threatening, theft and multiple counts of drug promotion in three separate cases.
Suspect in Waikiki hit-and-run is released
Honolulu police arrested and then released a 53-year-old Waimanalo man following a hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian just outside Waikiki on Saturday night.
Police said a vehicle traveling on Kapahulu Boulevard toward Waikiki struck a 60-year-old man who was crossing near the Ala Wai Golf Course at about 10:30 p.m., then left the scene. They said the pedestrian was in a crosswalk but did not have the walk signal to cross.
The pedestrian was taken in serious condition to a hospital.
Police located and arrested the Waimanalo man at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, then later released him without charges pending further investigation.
Police recover stolen vehicle in Waianae
A vehicle that was taken in a robbery at Keawaula Beach, also known as Yokohama Bay Beach, last week was recovered Saturday in the parking lot of a public housing project near Waianae Elementary School.
Honolulu police say the vehicle was illegally parked and unoccupied. They said they processed the vehicle and returned it to its owner.
They said a 21-year-old man and a witness were hanging out at Keawaula Beach on Oct. 23 when an unknown male confronted them with a weapon and fled in the man’s vehicle. Police have not arrested any suspects.
