Jack Stonehouse scored on a penalty kick at 89:34 — his first goal of the season— as the Hawaii Hilo men’s soccer team beat Chaminade 3-2 on Saturday at Paiea Stadium.
The penalty kick was set up by a hand ball on the Silverswords.
Jesus Ortega scored at 22:14 and 31:03 for the Vulcans (2-14, 2-11), who played a man down for 76 minutes in the season finale for both teams.
Makoto Shoji found the back of the net at 70:11 and added a penalty kick at 79:01 for the Silverswords (2-9-2, 3-10-2).

Salas helps Vulcans get past Silverswords
Jaimie Salas assisted on the tying goal and scored the go-ahead goal as the Hawaii Hilo women’s soccer team rallied to defeat Chaminade 2-1 on Saturday at Paiea Stadium.
Tiera Arakawa scored off an assist from Salas at 24:48 and Salas put the Vulcans (7-9-1, 4-8-1 PacWest) ahead by finding the back of the net at 59:44.
Nicole Nishiki scored off an assist from Cierra Toledo-Muragin at 0:52 for the Silverswords (2-9-2, 3-11-2).
It was the season finale for both teams.

HPU’s Carter finishes 80th at NCAA meet
Hawaii Pacific’s Kimberly Carter finished 80th at the NCAA Division II West Region Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Monmouth, Ore.
Carter completed the 6K course in 22:54.2 and teammate Brooke Gottmeier was 151st in 24:14.5. Alaska Anchorage’s Caroline Kurgat won in 20:26.1.
In the 10K men’s race, the Sharks’ Jimmy Chagoya finished 145th in 33:34.5 and Matt Whitworth was 159th in 34:11.1. Western Oregon’s David Ribich won in 29:49.2.
LSU men lead at Royal Kaanapali
The LSU men’s golf team is atop the leaderboard at 25-under-par 543 after Saturday’s first day of the Kaanapali Collegiate Classic Invitational at Royal Kaanapali Golf Course.
Hawaii is tied for 18th after a two-round total of 593 and Hawaii B is 21st and last at 606.
Justin Arcano is the Rainbow Warriors’ top golfer at even-par 142. California’s Collin Morikawa leads at 132.
UH water polo team goes 1-2 in Fresno
Maartje Keuning scored four goals as the Hawaii water polo team beat Michigan 7-6 at the USA Water Polo Collegiate Cup on Saturday in Fresno, Calif.
Irene Gonzalez collected four steals and three assists for the Rainbow Wahine.
Also Saturday, Hawaii lost to New York Athletic Club 10-5 and Stanford 16-3.
