A 66-year-old pedestrian has died from injuries he sustained after he was struck by a vehicle in Hauula.

He is identified as Wendell Siufanua of Hauula, according to the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

Just after 11:40 p.m., a vehicle operated by a 35-year-old man was traveling south on Kamehameha Highway when the vehicle struck Siufanua fronting the 7-Eleven store.

Police said he was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the collision. Emergency Medical Services transported Siufanua to a hospital in critical condition where he died Sunday night.

Police said speed and alcohol were not involved in the collision. Weather and lighting conditions may have been factors.

The investigation is ongoing.
